When I Don’t Feel Right, I Know What’s Missing
You know that feeling when something’s just… off? It’s not a full-blown bad day. However, it feels like the edges of the world are a little fuzzy. You can’t put your finger on why. For me, I’ve learned that usually means one thing: I haven’t journaled yet. Journaling is more than a tool; it’s my method of using journal as therapy to process emotions.
It sneaks up on me. I’ll be halfway through the day, feeling restless, unfocused, maybe even cranky. My to-do list is glaring at me, my email’s piling up, and I’m not showing up as my best self. Then it hits me: I didn’t put pen to paper this morning. This isn’t just a routine; it’s a form of journal as therapy that grounds me.

Here’s the thing—journaling is my reset button. It’s not always profound. Sometimes it’s just a brain dump of all the clutter. Sometimes it’s gratitude. Sometimes it’s me complaining about how much I don’t want to answer emails. But whatever it is, once it’s out of my head and onto the page, I feel lighter. Clearer. Like I’ve re-entered my own story instead of floating around in everyone else’s. That’s the power of using a journal as therapy.
That’s why I make time for it, even if it’s just ten minutes before bed or scribbling in between meetings. It almost always rights me.
And honestly, that’s why I created the journals and planners here at Twisted Plot Paper. The Starring Me! Journal gives me prompts that feel like a fun conversation with myself. The Write Track Planner keeps my head straight when life feels messy. Both give me a place to land when I’m drifting.
So if you’re feeling “off” today, try this: stop scrolling, grab a pen, and write. Doesn’t have to be pretty. Doesn’t have to be long. Just give your thoughts somewhere to live outside your brain. Chances are, it’ll help set you right too, serving as your own journal for therapy.
Check out The Starring Me! Journal if you need some ispo to journal. (You can read the origin story here.)
